2017 Booragul Sale Report

What do you say?! Our 2017 sale will certainly be remembered as one of the highlights of our stud breeding career. The pieces of the puzzle all fell into place from the magnificent autumn day to see close to 120 registrations the largest crowd we have seen to date.

It didn’t take long for the sale to kick off with Lot 3 selling to a new Booragul record price of $60,000! Lot 3 was purchased by Dunoon Angus and has already been renamed as Booragul Leroy to go straight into stud duties into the renowned Dunoon herd. Many thanks to James Laurie of Knowla Livestock for handling phone bidding on behalf of Dunoon. He was highly sort after with several leading studs showing a strong interest in the bull.

The sale continued strongly with another record set for our Yearling bulls by Lot 35 Booragul Revenue M4 topping at $35,000 and selling to a 3-way syndicate: Coffin Creek from Mudgee, Palgrove Dalveen from Queensland and Knowla Livestock from Gloucester.

Undoubtedly the strength of our sale came from the Consolidated Pastoral Company who were represented by Jason Purcell purchasing 24 bulls to the top of $20,000 to average $13,875. Other purchasers on the day were Jim and Jane O’Brien from Peri securing 3 bulls, Dempsey Pastoral Company securing 4 bulls, Grant Family of Loomberah securing 4 bulls and Myalls Springs from Rangari purchased 3 bulls. This year saw 30 commercial PTIC females offered which averaged $3006 selling between Diamond Cattle Co and Lyndcote Holdings.

The confidence that we have been shown towards our breeding program has been truly appreciated and we will certainly continue to endeavour to produce bulls to satisfy all market specifications. Undoubtedly the overall confidence shown to us by stud and commercial producers is a combination of continuing high cattle prices and Angus cattle being highly sort after by all sectors of the beef industry. We are looking forward to the next 12 months to see what great things are to come to the beef industry.
