2018 Booragul Sale Report
The lead up to our 2018 Sale had us experience a particularly dry/ summer autumn period with several areas around us starting to feel the impact with many people starting to off load stock. This year’s sale saw a number of new sire lines represented, with the strength of the buyers coming from new stud breeding programs along with our usual commercial operators.
Lot 4 Booragul Jacko M143 was our top price bull at $16,000 selling to Knockbreak Partnership Eidsvold QLD. It was fantastic to see the Woodard family returning again from purchasing a top sire the previous year.
We were elated to see the Scrivener family of “Bonny Brooke Angus” secure Lot 7 for $13,000 Booragul Regent M125. Other stud purchasers were “Bridgewater Angus” Guyra purchasing Lot 34 Booragul General N5 for $12,000, one of the first sons of Pathfinder General to be offered this season in Australia. Another son of General sold to $7,000 to commercial operators “Rocky Glen Ag” Barraba.
Consolidated Pastoral Company returned this year purchasing 11 bulls to a top of $15,000 to work on their various northern QLD pastoral properties. Other volume buyers were locals Steve and Sophie Carter from “Rangari” selecting 5 new sires to a top of $11,000 for Lot 38 Booragul King N29. Joining them were Matt and Mel Carter of “Myall Springs” Rangari who selected two sires to join their organic beef operation. It was also great to see our good friends the Avendano family of Boggabri return to purchase 3 bulls to average $9333.
The overall sale this year was a relief given the adverse conditions averaging $7750 for 64 lots, topping at $16,000.
