2015 Booragul Sale Report

What a great day! This year’s sale day started out with perfect weather having had decent autumn rain and a sharp uplift in cattle prices everybody was feeling positive about the future of the beef industry.
Congratulations were given to those clients who had managed to maintain their cow herd in such adverse conditions over the past few years to place themselves in a position to take advantage of some of the high prices now on offer.
Although registrations were only marginally up from previous years an extremely strong sale average was achieved with a total clearance of 52 bulls averaging $6653 with the top of $13,000 twice. One of the highlights of this year’s sale was the 10 yearling bulls averaging $7300. Lot 18 Booragul Frankel K18 purchased by Knowla Angus sold for $13,000 and Lot 17 Booragul WT458N K3 purchased by J & J O’Brien sold for $10,000.

Our catalogue featured 10 sons of the exciting new sire Booroomooka Frankel whose progeny averaged $9100. The other top price bull Lot 9 Booragul Frankel J76 sold to Murrunjai Pastoral Co. for $13,000. Murranjai Pastoral Co. went on to purchase a draft of 3 bulls at an average of $10,000. Another regular client of Booragul seed stock genetics was Jim & Jane O’Brien who purchased 4 bulls to average $8875, topping at $10,000 twice. The Avendano family who have been purchasing Booragul bulls for over 20 years secured 3 bulls to the average of $7330. Mark and Lee Latham purchased 2 bulls at $9,000 average. Another of our repeat buyers Roger Grant was able to secure 4 bulls to average $6875. One of the larger volume buyers were Phillip and Vicki Dempsey from ‘Koobah’ Nundle who purchased 5 bulls to average $7600.

Whilst we are so appreciative of the support that we receive from our regular clients, returning year after to year to secure the new genetics we endeavour to provide, this year it was pleasing to see so many new faces in the pens inspecting our sale bulls and enquiring about our breeding program. Following our sale it was great to be able to meet with so many of our buyers and put a name to a face.
We thank you all for showing confidence in our program and for your support.
